It’s not that big of a number when you look at it, 76…. It’s actually sort of a nice number, not too precisely proportioned like 75 is, and not excessively symmetrical like 77. And when you apply 76 to something like the number of new supporters you need to save the lives of innocent children it actually begins to look quite small.
So this is it, today we are officially launching our goal to get 76 new $25 monthly supporters. If we are able to get to our goal we will be able to fully support the orphanage and all the costs to run it. We can then direct the one-time donations to things like trips out to the tribes to save more kids and unexpected medical expenses (which seem to be happening all to often).
Right now we have monthly expenses totaling $2725.00 per month. We currently have $809 committed and coming in through scheduled monthly donations, which means we are short just over $1900 every month, not exactly a comfortable place to be with something as important as rescuing children like this. So far we have made it every month through donors who gave one-time donations, but we just wired the last penny in the account to pay for the trip to pick up the five new children and are starting to realize that we need to make sure that there is money to feed these kids every month in scheduled commitments.
These kids are going to need all the help we can get, and you (Yes you!) are the one we are asking to help out. You read this blog, you understand the story and know that this is all new and still unfolding day by day, you are likely as captivated as we are with the chance that we might be able to save more kids and we hope moved to do something as we have been. The problem is, the way the fund raising has been going this whole thing is all going to come to a screeching halt if we don’t get our act together and find more monthly supporters. Its never been a comfortable thing for us to ask for money but we are learning that if we do not so something fast we are going to see a lot more of the failures like we experienced last week with the three kids who we were to late to rescue.
So we are swallowing our hesitation to ask for money and jumping out there on a limb, we are asking that you help us get to 76, help by posting about Drawn From Water on your Facebook page, or on your Blog, or even good old fashioned telling people at work or at church. Help by clicking the donate link above and turn 76 into 75, getting this project that much closer to being able to continue the work that has been started.
So for the next while we will be posting on here about our progress and letting you know how close we are to 76. We feel strongly that through the more than 7,000 people who read this blog every month that there are at least 76 who would be willing to donate less than a dollar a day to save these children. It may take some work but its not something that we are willing to give up on.
I will check the progress often and update on here how many more we need to make it to our goal.
