Update on the new ones

December 30, 2009

Today proved to be another mad house (as one might expect going into it) I arrived at the hospital at around 8 and found Eric holding the new baby in his arms. The baby appeared to be a little more alert and actually made eye contact with me for the first time. (He has the most beautiful eyes, I can not wait to see him smile.) Eric said that they had a pretty uneventful night, apparently his malnourishment is making him so weak that he is not able to stay awake for long periods of time. The doctors came in around 10 and explained to us that although he does not look well right now it does not appear that he has been this way for long, meaning that he was starved in the past few days but likely was a healthy boy before that, they say that with a little time and more hydration he will be back on his feet. By the end of the day it looked like they were right, he actually ate a whole piece of pizza at around 4 this afternoon, incredible considering he could not even hold his head up 12 hours before that.
We are so excited that he is pulling through and going to make it. The doctor said that if he were not put on an IV that day that he likely would have died in the night. We are thanking God for working it all out so that he could be saved.
The older boy is doing great, he just needed a worm treatment and is bouncing off the walls with energy.
It looks like we are going to have two new kids in the orphanage after all!
I will let you know more soon.
