Its funny, when we have nothing going on there is lots of time to blog but nothing to blog about, but when go through times like right now, when there is a lot going on we have no time to write anything…. Sorry for the long silence, things have been swirling around like a tornado.
Here are just a few of the things we are working on…
Small Visitor
One of the little girls from the orphanage has been with us for the past several days, she needed some medical tests done and we had to get her up here in the city to do them. Eric (one of the two guys who are helping out for three months) came up from the orphanage with her. We are so thankful that he is here right now to help out with the drive and doctor visits. Eric has been a live saver this week.
This little girl is a sweetheart and fits right in with our family, our kids love that they can practice the native language when she is around. Now if we could just get her to sleep past 6 AM….
Work Permit
Lale came up to work on some government stuff, so he has been staying with us as well. We are happy to report that thanks to Lale’s help we now have a resident work permit! That means that hotels and many things that we buy here in country are half price. Woo hoo!
Adoptions
We have been marching forward with the children’s adoption files. Yesterday we turned in a big chunk of the necessary documents to the agency! For the past 4 weeks we have been compiling background information and medical tests from all over the country and finally were able to turn it in. We are still far from done but its a good feeling to see ground behind you that you covered. Next we start working with the Ministry of Womens Affairs and they will either approve or deny each child for international adoption. Be praying that the process goes smoothly. We have done a lot of that work up front and are working with an incredible agency so we do not expect to run into trouble.
Car
Looking back on our budget for the past 4 months we can see that we spend way to much on car rentals. Every time one of the children is sick and needs to get to the hospital here in the city or we travel out to the tribes to see if there are any more mingi children we have to rent a car. The Landcruisers we rent cost over 100 USD per day despite the fact that they are more than 20 years old. Not exactly a smart way to spend money…
We are working on getting the legal documents we need to purchase a vehicle Tax free. The vehicle tax here is roughly three time the cost of the vehicle (ouch!) So we want to be able to buy a car without paying the tax. As of right now we do not have the money raised to purchase a car but are praying that it will come in when the timing is right. It sounds like we will have the proper signatures in the next 6 weeks. Pray that we are able to find donors who will help buy a car that can make the trip, the more we get out to the tribes the more kids we are going to be able to save. It looks like we are going to need to raise around 15,000 USD to make the purchase.
Ok I think thats all the updates for now. Thanks for following along with us!

Hi Levi,
Thank you for your faithful blogging. I am always reading it for updates. We have watched the videos that Brandon took of all the children and are finishing our homestudy and moving onto the dossier. I also appreciate the blog about the Owlhaven. I went on to her site, the same day you posted it. Just wanted you to know, I so appreciate and enjoy everything you write!
Merry Christmas!
