Thanksgiving… Well sort of.

November 26, 2009

When back at home we always have a pretty big Thanksgiving with family but this time things are going to be different.  When I was in Washington DC a few weeks ago I picked up a couple cans of cranberry and pumpkin mix, we don’t have an oven so we are improvising on how to make a pumpkin pie…  We were at the grocery store here a few days ago and saw that they had three turkeys that looked like they were imported from Europe… Yeah they were 80 dollars each (US dollars) So, uh, we passed on the turkey that we would not even be able to cook, anyway.

So we are going to have a pretty low key cranberry and uncooked pumpkin pie Thanksgiving. Its good though, feast or no feast, I believe we have more to be thankful for this year than any other before, we are so blessed to be here and helping these kids and the tribes they come from.  I wouldn’t trade it for any home cooked turkey in the world. Although seeing family again would be a welcome event…

  1. Happy Thanksgiving! The pictures are wonderful! We’re thankful for all of you and for the lives of these precious children. We’re thankful to have Brandon back home and will greatly miss having Preston with us, but we’ve set a place at the table in his honor and are thanking God that he can be there with all of you serving the Lord for His glory and for the sake of this wonderful orphanage and ministry. Our love and prayers are with you all! — Deb and the Naramore Family

What sweet faces and precious little people in the pictures! Thank you for sharing them with us! There is such joy in so many of the pictures and they are just beautiful little gifts. May God bless you ALL on this Thanksgiving Day and during the coming Christmas season! I am truly thankful for you, your team, and all you are doing to save so many priceless treasures that are truly God’s creations. It’s fun to see each of their little personalities and to see them playing and just being kids. Please keep the posts coming!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving! Your photos are beautiful! Had to chuckle at the over-priced turkeys. Yeah, we pass on the $40 birds here. We can find many better uses for that kind of money! I envy you the cranberry, though! lol

Hope you have a blessed weekend!

  6. You guys are amazing!!! I really love your hearts. It’s all about being thankful isn’t it, and you are. The turkey is just the trimmings, and in a hot climate not that great.
Hope you had a good time together….missing the family is hard for sure. I know we miss ours.
