Levi and I decided to share the blogging so this is from me, Jessie. We are back in Addis now and trying to get settled. We have rented a house here so that we can work on the paper work that is required for the adoptions. Life in Addis is totally different for us and the kids are getting adjusted. They miss Jinka but we all know that we need to be here to get the kids into families.
News from Jinka is that the kids should get moved into the new house by early Octorber. They are all doing really good. The next step for the adoption process is to do what is called a festival out at the tribes. Lale will be heading it up and that will be happening in the middle of October. It is a gathering of the tribes elders to let them know what the plan is for the kids futures. Then after that is finished we will get police letters for each of the children.
So, for now we are working on helping Lale get set up for the festival and makeing sure the kids get settled in their new house.

  4. Still praying for you all!

  5. I am following your blog intently since I found it, eager to hear how God uses you to care for these precious children. Our son came to our family from Addis one month ago, and as we get to know him, God is giving us His love for the orphan and helpless. Thank you, thank you for surrendering yourself to God in this work. Wow.

Are the elders of the tribes the very ones who hold these superstitions about the children being cursed and have required that they be drowned? Do they KNOW that the parents have given their children to your care, and are they okay with it?

  6. Good to hear from you Jessie:) We had our yard sale today for the orphanage. It went well, grandma and Vickie helped me out. Our main goal was to get the word out by passing out flyers with this address and info about DFW orphanage! We love to hear from you guys, miss you and sending our love,

  7. My wife and I are praying for you guys and for the kids. Trying to get the word out. Hoping to have a multi-family garage sale to raise money. We’re so thankful to have found you. In our tiny little sliver of a way, we feel like we’re part of what you’re doing. Hoping to help with money. Definitely helping through prayer.

  8. Sunday the family is going to get together and see the pictures Alison and Donia brought back from Ethiopia! I can’t wait. You guys are in our hearts and prayer! God Bless
